Blog Tour Review & Giveaway: Big Hook Rag Crochet

Big Hook Rag Crochet by Dedri Uys: A Review & Giveaway

I received a complimentary copy of the book to complete my review but I  was not financially compensated. These thoughts are based on my own experience with the book and my own opinions.

I'm a huge fan of 'big hook crochet' because of the loftiness of the bulky and super bulky yarn typically used with huge hooks and also because of how quickly the projects work up. When Dedri Uys of LookAtWhatIMade announced that she had a new book coming out, with Lark Crafts, that focused on this style I jumped at the opportunity to review it. Big Hook Rag Crochet has 25 fabulously quick and simple crochet patterns that will inspire you to give 'fabric' yarn and 'big hook crochet' a whirl. And these aren't your grandma's rag rug patterns, there is such a diverse offering of designs there truly is something for everyone (even your dog or cat!). See all of the designs HERE on the book's Ravelry source page.
Visually the book is stunning, from cover to cover. Once you crack it open you'll quickly discover that it's also colorful, cheery and user friendly. The introduction by Dedri herself is a friendly and welcoming invitation to dive in to the book. Each pattern is clearly written and easy to follow. The last 30 pages of the book is dedicated to the step by step process of creating your own fabric yarn, basic crochet techniques, crochet abbreviations and even instructions on how to dye your fabric yarn. Talk about covering all the bases!

Here are a few of my favorites:

I had time to whip up one of these cute storage boxes (it worked up in no time), but unfortunately didn't have and fabric yarn on hand so I used a double strand of Lion Brand Yarn Hometown USA.

In closing I have to say that this is one of my all time favorite crochet books and guess what?! Lark Crafts is giving away, to one lucky fan, a FREE copy. You're gonna want this one so get your entries in! (US residents only)

    1. Which link? I don't have a link in there to see my own patterns, just the source page for the other designs in the book...
