STRAP

Row 2: ch1, turn, sc in each st across (180 sts)
Rows 3&4: repeat Row 2 (180 sts)
Fasten off and leave extra long tail for sewing to bag.

Attaching ring/strap to bag: Using tapestry/yarn needle and a long length of yarn, whip stitch around the ring and INTO the bottom edge of the bag (Round 9 of the bag rounds) for approximately 1”. <see ‘D’ in pic> Fasten off and weave in ends. Feed one end of the strap through the ring and bring other end to meet the first end (this step will put the ring at the center of the strap with the strap “folded in half”). Using tapestry/yarn needle and the long tail, left after completing the strap section, whip stitch the two ends of the strap together and then whip stitch them INTO sts in Round 88 of the bag rounds (line up the spot where you attached the ring to the bottom, with the spot at the top that you’re now securing the strap) for approximately 1” to secure the strap to the bag. <see ‘C’ in pic> Fasten off and weave in ends.

DRAWSTRING
Row 1: ch73, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc across (72 sts)
Row 2: ch1, turn, sc in each st across (72 sts), fasten off and weave in ends of drawstring.
To close up the top of the bag: Feed one end of drawstring in and out of the dc sts in Round 94 of bag rounds, leaving approximately 6” hanging out for both ends of the drawstring (these are used to cinch and tie the bag closed). <see ‘B’ in pic> Optional: Tie knots approximately 5” from each drawstring end to keep it from slipping through the sts and coming out. <see ‘A’ in pic>
